The plug in puts the note name above the sheet music. This doesn't help me. I want to put note names in the note so that chords can be at top and lyrics can be at bottom. Even better would be big notes with note name in the notes. Does Musescore do this?

That is possible too meanwhile, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/notehead-schemes

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is exactly what I needed since I'm creating custom beginning band pages.

I tried this but couldn’t. Is there a trick to it? I used both phone and laptop with no luck

The notation software does not exist on phone, so perhaps that's why it didn't work for you?
The "trick" is to use that handbook page together with the notation software as offered on this site (.org).
If something remains unclear then please give us something more to work with than "it didn't work".

I could only get the pitch names to be above or below the notes, not within as the schemes show. Any further advice? I have the Note name plugin...

Use the properties panel to change the notehead kind.

Forget the plugin that was needed in 2016 when this thread was started but not anymore.
To add note names to just selected notes, first select them, then go the Properties panel and set the notehead scheme there as mentioned above. Or to have all notes for a staff automatically set that way, go to Staff/Part properties, Advanced style properties, and set the scheme there.

I obviously have no idea what I am talking about. ;- )

On the contrary, your info was good - just a bit incomplete. So I wanted to fill in the gaps. Thanks for the info you provided!

Sorry, maybe I shouldn’t be trying to help so much in the forums if I can’t actually use the software itself at the time, I don’t have a computer with me right now.

The link above shows how to do the note names within the notes. To make things big, go to Format / Page Settings and increase the "Staff space" setting.

Same answer as before, you can't edit Scores on an iPad, not with MuseScore anyhow
Thanks for this hint. I spent 2 days looking on the internet for such a program.
