Was there ever slur playback?

There was a subtle effect for piano and flute
Not sure whether it still is in Mu4

@earleryn1415...
Your score attachment uses ties, not slurs.

@bobjp.. You wrote:

In earlier versions of MuseScore, default, unmodified, flute playback was deemed too legato sounding for normal playing; and staccato, of course, sounded too disconnected.
So... earlier MS had adjustable note on/off times via note properties and/or using the piano roll editor (PRE).
Note durations could be 'finessed' to emulate slurs.
Since you still use MS3, open this and have a listen:
Flute.mscz
Hopefully, you should be able to discern the slur playback in MS3. (Use the default soundfont.)

I still have it on my older computers. But I haven't installed it on my new one. Besides, Musecsore doesn't crash on any of my computers. Nor do my scores get corrupted.
Actually, as far as I can tell everything already plays slurred in Muse Sounds - what's really needed to tongued playback (other than adding articulation marks).

yes. this. the resulting playback as-is sounds like one long note, unless i force the articulation (and then it sounds choppy/robotic). never thought i'd say it but it's gonna be worth paying those f*ers at AVID
yes i wish it was added

See above - it's already there in MU4 with Muse Sounds.

Actually it arrived a week or ago in 4.3. At least the basic support - for instance, try brass instruments with the “classic phrasing” sound flag. Support isn’t complete across all instruments, but it does seem to be rolling out finally.

Are you sure? The only reason I even visited the forum today was because I happened to have been trying out a technique in MS and the slurring was noticeably worse than usual... it sounded staccato, actually. I was gonna make a post asking if there was a new bug from the update that mixed up articulations or something but ultimately didn't. Instead, I just left a whiny comment here, lol.
Anyway, if you are correct, then that's cool. I'll be glad to see if that actually works.

I’m sure that the new sound flags feature includes a setting “classic phrasing” for brass that has the effect of removing the always-slurred default in Muse Sounds. I have no idea what you mean about slurs creating staccato; I’ve never experienced that and it sounds entirely unrelated to what is discussed in this thread, which is a request for a new feature where adding a slur would make notes more legato, not any sort of bug where slurs creates staccato. If that ever happens again please start a new thread and attach your score there and say which notes you are having trouble with.
I guess many be you missed the announcements about the 4.3 update, but they all contain info about sound flags. See the Announcements forum on this site. You also should have seen the in-app notification that an update was available last week,

Please tell me where to find the "classic phrasing" that you keep mentioning. I can't seem to locate it.
For Horn, Trombone, Bass Trombone, Cimbasso and Tuba, there are no sound flag options whatsoever... it says "sound flag options are not available for this sound." For Horns a6 and Trombones a3, the only options are "ordinary (default)" and "cluster." And for Trumpet and Trumpets, the only options are "ordinary (default)" and "shake." Nothing related to slurring, and nothing that says "classic phrasing."

Apparently one some systems the Muse Brass update has not been pushed out yet. Fire up Muse Hub and manually check for updates via the settings window to see if that catches them, but otherwise, you might need to wait a little while longer. They are definitely in the "beta" Muse Hub.
As mentioned, though, even without that, you certainly shouldn't be hearing staccato!

Okay, I see. And never mind all that stuff I said about staccato and whatnot... I was exaggerating and just rambling cuz I was frustrated with something I was working on.
Thanks for the info.
