MuseStrings articulation properties

MuseScore Studio 4.4.3
MuseStrings

I'm having some difficulty wrapping my head around the behaviour of articulations in MuseStrings. Often times there appears to be a portamento slur between pitches when no slur is indicated, as in selection 1.

Other times, I do want a portamento, but I just can't seem to make it work. In selection 2, I want the solo violin to scoop slightly into the harmonic A, but I can't hear the effect.

Thoughts?

Thanks Bob.
Interesting. It works with chromatic/diatonic glissando markings, but not with Portamento. (Is there something about portamento on MS that I should know?)

Regardless, I really don't care for the idea of breaking a rhythm for the sake of achieving the sound. The notation is perfectly fine as it is, and given to a human player, there would be no doubt what was intended.

After additional fiddling (no pun intended) I have found that it is the MuseSounds Solo violin sound that seems to present the most egregious/inconsistent articulations. In my mind slurs and portamento are vastly different in performance, but MuseSounds seems to (sometimes?) treat them as one and the same. I assume that the MuseSounds designers are trying to emphasize the "solo" characteristics of the sound, but to my ear, it verges on sloppy. (and out of my control)

Has anyone else experienced this?
Is there any way to control the way MuseSounds interprets articulations?
