I can;t open or remove Musehub

• Nov 16, 2024 - 15:23

I opened Musehub, and it started downloading Muse strings, though it appeared frozen. Then I was informed that I needed to download Muse Hub. Nothing was happening so I closed it. Now it won't open. On the start page, there is a white line with Musehub, which I assume means that it didn't finish downloading. Now I can no longer open, download, or delete Musehub, and I have lost Muse strings, which I previously had.

Exactly the same problem was reported this morning on the French-speaking forum: https://musescore.org/fr/node/371724
And I was able to confirm this by trying, in vain, to delete Muse Hub (running Windows 10, like the first user to report this issue)
No explanation or understanding of what's going on yet.

It's because there's a weird thing with the app. I found this out the hard way. When I tried to buy orchestral plugins, it told me I had to "login" and it took me to a url that "can't establish a secure connection" to my server (using Mac Pro Desktop). My dad looked up stuff about MuseHub, and it's really shady. It's been alleged as to being malware or had malware-like behaviors; it's frequently the source of inbound connection attempts from various IP's, and runs root-owned background services.
