How to view number of instruments in string section
I am trying to arrange a piece for string orchestra, and want a specific number of instruments per section:
6 first violins
6 second violins
4 violas
4 cellos
2 double basses
I have searched far and wide for a way to view the number of instruments in each "section" but haven't been able to figure it out. I am using MuseScore Studio version 4.4.3

I doubt that there was a particular number of players in mind when these fonts were created.

Oh ok. But how do you edit the number of instruments in a section?

You can't, those are samples recorded from a real violin section from a real orchestra playing live each note and articulation. You may try creating 6 + 6 different single violin staves... but you should use 6 different soundfonts (or vst or whatever) or if you use the same sample (Musesounds or soundfont) you will not notice any difference and it will be like a single violin soundfont, in a music hall it's the little differnces between different violins, also little imperfections that vibrate in the air that makes the particular sound of a violin section. But you may as well try, in a DAW better than Musescore for this purpose

Oh I see. That's good to know, thank you. How can I condense those 12 violins into 2 violin sections (so the score will look nice and be easy to read for the musicians)?

You shoud use two scores, one for the notaion that you will supply to musicians, one for the sound with the 6+6. BUT I strongly suggest to make the 6+6 sound experiment in a DAW, you just save one midi track for Violin I one for Violin II etc. from the score. Load Violin I 6 times in a DAW to create 6 different tracks and to them you will apply 6 different soundfonts (vst etc). OR you may switch 6 different soundfonts (vst etc) to the main score in Musescore, each time you save as wav and load them in different tracks in Audacity which is free. I mean... it's a timeconsuming experiment, can't you just provide scores to musicians as it seems that it will be performed live...
