How to deactivate the first page number of the score?

• Dec 12, 2024 - 13:17

Does anyone knows how can I make the page number 1 (on the first page of the actual score) invisible? Even if I uncheck "Show on first page" in the Header settings, it is still there. I can´t find any other setting to solve the problem. Bug? Or am I doing something wrong?

I can see from your attached image that there's a page break (i.e. there is already a first page, I guess for the title frame and other information) before pages 1 and 2 - image below.

Wouldn't you have set the "First page number" to 0 (the "default" is 1) in Format / Page Settings, thinking you were doing the right thing?
If you only want the 1 to be displayed on... third page, set this "First page number" to -1.

Thank you!
Yes, there are two pages (Title+Information) before the actual score starts.
But I do NOT want the 1 to be displayed at all!
So it has nothing to do with "First page number to -1", it is about the header settings,
and it seems as there´s a bug.

Check the attached. Here (Wiondows 11, MuseScore 4.4.4) it looks like
Screenshot 2024-12-14 140317.png

It uses $P (upper case P) and ticked the "Show on first page' box

Using $p (lower case p) as well as unticking the "Show on first page' box takes care of it not showing. And one of the 2 settings is sufficient for the page number to not show. For it to show both settings are needed.

No bug in sight at all

Thank you!
Yes, I know those settings. And when creating my post in the first place, I´ve uploaded a screenshot showing the exact same settings you mention here. But it doesn´t make any changes. Here I send you a sample score and a screenshot of the current settings. No matter whether the p letter is big or small and whether "show on first page" is checked or not – there is no difference.
But I´ve noticed, that this sort of bug do not occur with your file you´ve uploaded here. I can see the difference when checking/unchecking. That´s at least an indication that there´s no bug inside the software on my computer. Must have to do something with the file. But it is with every file, even every new created.
I have the latest version of MS.

What do you mean exactly with nomanclature? In order to have correct page numbers in the actual score, I am forced to make the -1 setting. When I do -2 then I eliminate the page number 1 on the first page, only to get it placed on the next page (which should be No. 2).
That´s true: I haven´t taken in consideration, that your file has no title pages, that´s why everything works fine there.

That´s strange. I ask myself how one can create a professional score with several title pages and without page number 1 on the first page where the music starts. As far as I know this is the standard for scores. I haven´t seen any score where page number 1 shoes up. And in Sibelius it was an easy setting. Strange that such a simple thing can not be achieved inside such an advanced program like MuseScore.
However, thank you so much for your efforts and help!
