Musescore 4.4.4 Update Bug With Notes

• Dec 15, 2024 - 14:06

Hello all. I recently updated to Musescore 4.4.4 (from 4.4.3). In my compositions now, every once in a while, a group of notes will hold through the rest of the score, even though it is not meant to do this. For example, in a full orchestra, the oboes and clarinets will hold a staccato eighth note through the entire rest of the score when I play it back (and it is ONLY the clarinets and oboes that do this, all other instruments play back fine). It also only occurs at one particular spot in my score (along one particular eighth note in one particular measure on my score, nowhere else). For now, I have reverted back to 4.4.3, since this wasn't an issue then. Does anyone have any suggestions for mitigating this issue? Thanks!

Please post the score that does this. In the meantime, was there a dynamic and/or a hairpin involved? I'm finding 4.4.4 to be more picky about placement of these things.

Sorry, but the example in that report is rigged to fail. Such improper software notation is bound to have problems. Seriously? A hairpin on a staccato note? I have looked at many such problems reported lately. So far almost every time the extended note is the result of improper notation. There needs to be a dynamic at the end of a hairpin. The hairpin must be set to the notes in between the notes the dynamics are attached to. I learned these things long ago in Sibelius. This is not new. What's new is that MuseScore is starting to follow these things more closely. If this is the case, it is hardly a regression.
