Please consider supporting TuxGuitar tablature files
Would MuseScore please consider supporting the import and export of TuxGuitar tablature files? This would be useful for the existing guitarist community (especially on Linux) and ease the transition for those guitarists who would like to use MuseScore for playing and writing guitar pieces.
As you can guess, I have a large library of .tg files that I would love to use with MuseScore, and I am already using MuseScore for everything non-tablature.

Use MusicXML export plugin

Thank you. I am aware of this workaround however I'm requesting a feature in MuseScore rather than an addon in TuxGuitar so that I don't need to use different notation editors for different file types.
Have you tried exporting from Tux as a Guitar Pro format?
MS can open GP files.
MS can also import MusicXML, so why isn't this format suitable?

I am making a feature request, not a help request.

See above.

I realise that it was a feature request. I replied with a workaround because you mentioned "transition to Musescore" so I thought that a one-off export/import of each Tux file might be acceptable.
Good luck with your GitHub request. It may result in a 1-way, direct open of .tg files function – as per the function for .gp files – but who knows, you may get a 2-way open and save-as function
1) your feature says "ease the transition... use Musescore writing guitar pieces ". It wasn't saying that you need to keep these files in their original format to continue working on them with the original editor.
So converting the files to guitar pro format is a perfect legitimate answer to that, you are rude to dismiss the answers from free volunteers taking their time trying to help you.
2) the Musescore team doesn't read this forum if you really want that feature request to be considered you need to enter it in github

You're reading something into my post that isn't there. Also, this is under "feature request" not "support and bug reports." Unless I'm mistaken and MuseScore does already support TuxGuitar files, troubleshooting my feature request isn't the best use of time.

Thank you for your opinion. I have been factual and direct. I can't do more than that.

Thanks.

You did come across a bit passive-aggressive in the way that you double-answered my suggestion.
As TuxGuitar is Open Source, implementing .tg support for MuseScore it at least possible (without having to resort to reverse engineering)
I'm going to vote against this feature so that Musescore developers can spend their time on really important things, like fixing the many existing bugs.

I guess they'd mark it for community contributors
