1/2 to 1 second delay between mouse command and actual execution of command.

• Sep 24, 2017 - 11:40

Hi,
I now have a 1/2 to 3 seconds delay between mouse command and actual execution of the command on the screen.
This delay makes it very difficult to place notes on staff in correct position, resulting in frustration and confusion.
I have the problem only in one score, the others are OK. I have spend about 25 hrs on this score which is also my own composition, thus subject to copyright. Is there any way I can correct it without having to print it and re-program it into an new score?
I have tried to copy the score into a fresh score but it also copies and pastes the problem into the new file.

I also have problems to stabilise the program as when I first start the program up. The whole program disappears so I have to reload it, sometimes up to 6 times before it becomes stable.
My operating system is Linux Ubuntu. believe that I have one of the latest musescore releases which I updated about 6 month ago.
please can you help me,
with kind regards, Victor.

It should no longer be present but ...
Have you already tried to enable / disable Navigator (F12)?
Is the score many pages long?
Does something change using Continuous View?
Could you attach here your score?
Use the "File attachments" option at the bottom of the page, just above the Save and Preview buttons when you're typing your post. Click on Choose a file
(you can delete a few notes or change them if there is a copyright issue)

Thank you for the quick reply.
The score is 47 pages, 140 measures total and contains 14 instrument staffs.
I just tried your suggestion on continuous and so far that appears to be OK.
I don't know how to enable or disable Navigator as I am not very computer savy (I am 75 years old).
I just tried a reset the file back to Page view and it appears to be stable again.
Kind regards and many thanks, Victor

MuseScore 2.1 should be younger than 6 months, so what version exactly are you using? Check Help/About.
To enable/disable press F12, performance might be better without, esp. on large scores and your's isn't exactly small.

I have a modest computer (Athlon II, 4Gb RAM, xubuntu 16.04) and everything starts to run like treacle with 10 instruments and 200 measures. MuseScore has a lot of re-drawing to do every time you make an edit and for the present you just have to live with it or get a faster machine. Breaking a piece into smaller chunks is the best way to go.
