Cannot Read File,
Hi,
I have been trawling through forums in order to see if there is a way to repair my corrupt file. I have been working on this for weeks and it will now, suddenly, no open in musescore and i am getting the message Cannot Read File, i was wondering if there is at least some kind of way i can convert to a pdf or something in order to copy it back into an older backup.

You need to find a backup file, one that starts with . and ends .mscz, (the comma is in the file name). This file is empty.

Once you find the backup, it might be possible to repair the corrupt file.

not really empty, but full of zeros, and indeed beyond repair

That's your decision. An older file that was reported as corrupt will most likely be able to be fixed.

I looked through in order to try and find some backup scores, the only ones i could find were simply blank score with nothing in, similar to when you first boot up musescore.

Search for "._Users_Owner_Desktop_Alex comp OG PLz keep as i may loose thi.mscz ," but also for files on your desktop. Other than that see the howto linked to above
Also see if you can recover an older version via OneDrive.
Go to your MuseScore Documents Directory (wherever your scores are saved) and in the file explorer toolbar, under the "View" tab, over on the right side, check the box that says "Hidden items". Now, your score should show up as a ".file_name.mscz," file. Simply remove the period at the beginning, and the comma at the end, and you should be fine.
Also, it can be recovered through the Session Directory
(C:\Users\"your_name"\AppData\Local\MuseScore\MuseScore2)
All the files will have encrypted names, and your file might be there.
