Lines
I have to be doing something wrong, but I cannot find out what.
Sometimes the crescendo and diminuendo hairpins work and sometimes they have no effect. I have NEVER been able to get the crescendo and diminuendo lines to work.
Has anyone got anything that they can say that will help? It's a little frustrating.

Thank you for replying,
Firstly I am NOT a musician, but I enjoy this program immensely and I have even bought the accompanying book, but I have been trying now for two days to get the hairpins to work at the end of a score. The crescendo hairpin works at the start of the score, but I cannot get the diminuendo hairpin to work at the end, I'll keep plugging away and hopefully will be able to get it to work, I just thought that if someone else had had the same problem and then resolved it, they may have been able to tell how they did so.

If the handbook doesn't help, attach your score here so we can have a look why it isn't working for you.

Use the inspector and change the Velocity Change. Just keep in mind a hairpin does not affect a single note or tied note.

Thank you, Mike320, that explains it.
The crescendo hairpin that DOES work actually works on notes that are not tied, I am trying to attach the diminuendo hairpin to tied notes.
Mystery solved, thank you both, as I said, I cannot read music and have never played a musical instrument in my life - fast approaching 70 now - but I get so much fun out of this program.

Problem now solved gentlemen, I read on a bit further and discovered that I wasn't putting the dynamics for example fp at the start and ppp at the end of the diminuendo line.
For some reason I expected the program to automatically know what I wanted - what an idiot I am.
Again thank you for your patience and for taking the time to explain things to me.
