What you want to do is transpose. In the menu: Notes -> Transpose

problem already solved...thank you very much =)

So, are you going to let us in on the secret?

that's a BS response. I tried it, and you get a dialogue that allows you to indicate the number of semitones to transpose, or "transpose chord names;" the key selection box is grayed out.
What you really want to do is CHANGE KEYS. Why is that question, or that desire, so difficult?

There is a bug when changing to C major. Under some circumstances the naturals are not shown.
This is fixed and should work in latest releases.

thanks a lot again =)

The key selection box is grayed out unless you first choose Edit > Select All, then Notes > Transpose.
Please note that transposition in MuseScore is not fully implemented yet. You are likely to encounter bugs in current versions.
I am not a professional musician, but what I believe the original poster is asking is how to indicate a modulation - a change form one key to another within a piece. Despite what other commenters suggest, this is not transposition. Transposition is the process of moving a collection of notes, perhaps even the entire piece, to another key.
Based on the replies, 'though I have less than a day's experience with MuseScore, I suspect that modulation is not supported. I, too, attempted to drag a key signature to a measure that was not the first, and it simply did not "take."
It seems there are some major problems with the way keys and clefs are handled internally in MuseScore; this view based on my observations of weird behavior. Here are examples of my current experience (0.9.5 on OS X 10.6.2, MacBook Pro4,1):
- you can't place the same clef as is already used under any circumstances;
- if you try to place a different clef on the first measure of a line, it appears at the end of the last measure of the previous line (is this "correct" music notation; it's not what I want, nor what I have seen in published manuscripts);
- you can't put the G Major key sig anywhere but first measure, first line; not so for other sigs;
...and other things. So, now I checked using a score started from scratch, and the results are different, suggesting some of my above difficulties are associated with the template I was using?
Don't get me wrong - I love this program! I'll figure out how to report bugs, and do so....

jv

"I, too, attempted to drag a key signature to a measure that was not the first, and it simply did not "take." "
If you want us to help you'll need to give a detailed example. See [[nodetitle:How to report bug or ask for support]] for detailed instructions.
"you can't place the same clef as is already used under any circumstances;"
Again please explain further: what steps did you take, what were you were expecting, and what actually happened? It sounds like you are trying to do something like drag a treble clef to a staff that is already treble clef. Can you explain why you want to do this?
"if you try to place a different clef on the first measure of a line, it appears at the end of the last measure of the previous line (is this "correct" music notation; it's not what I want, nor what I have seen in published manuscripts);"
Yes this is correct, standard music notation. It warns the musician that the music switches clefs for the next line. If for some reason you want to use non-standard music notation you can turn of "courtesy key signatures" via Style > Edit Style > Page
"you can't put the G Major key sig anywhere but first measure, first line; not so for other sigs;"
I don't have any problem adding G Major key signatures anywhere in the piece. Again, you need to give more detailed, step by step instructions so that others can reproduce the problem you are experiencing.
Feel free to open new forum topics for any of these since we seem to have strayed from the original topic.

Thanks David,
Wow, there are just so many things that either don't work, or are extremely counter-intuitive, that I decided to try to figure out if it was me, or if they were really bugs before I reported them. I say this because I have experience with professional CAD software, like Autocad and Solidworks, and I know that there is only so far you can go with intuitive interfaces when the actual content is complex, as in expressing object relationships in CAD.
Most of the things I mentioned are easily reproduced (including the crash I mentioned in another post). On your "courtesy key signatures" comment, there is no such parameter on the referenced menu: there is a "create key signatures for all systems" check item. Is that what you are referring to?
I will post a more general comment on the program in a new topic.
