Barlines between staves

How do you tell Musescore to blank out the part of the bar lines that eextend between staves of a system?
I con do it by selecting them and changing the one at a time and changing the span preset to short 2 one at a time, but I want to have the lines cover the entire of each staff but be invisible between so that I can enter lyrics without crossing the lines.

You can't do what you are trying to do with the barlines. Why don't you extend the barlines, put in the lyrics, then return them to normal?

Mike, I can get something close to the effect I want with the method I explained in the OP. The only problems with that is the bar lines in the treble staff are short and I have to select & change each one individually. I was hoping there was some way to select all bar lines and change them all at once (or make a change to the staff properties that would affect to span of the barlines.

1) Right-click on a barline -> Select -> All similar elements -> In Inspector : "Spanned staves" to 1 value

or 2) Double-click on a barline -> Drag the blue handle to the top staff -> Release -> Escape

I would note that the barline configuration you describe is already the default if you use any of the vocal templates. But if you're rolling your own for whatever reason, then indeed, double-click and drag is the way to go - do it once for any barline in the score and the rest follow automatically.

BTW, if you ever do have need to override for a single barline, don't use the "span presets" - those are for something else (barline length within a staff. Instead, use the "Spanned staves" field.
