How to input the attached Score Sheet

• Nov 19, 2018 - 15:13

I'm having a difficult time entering the attached score sheet especially the 3rd measure lining up the Voice 2 (D & E). Also MuseScore seems to add a 'Tie' to the 4th even the values in the 3rd is correctly corresponding the Time Signature.
I'd appreciate if anyone can recommend a solution or informing me what I might be doing wrong.
Thanks

I have been using the 'Voices' on all other pieces that I have successfully but this one, somehow, is not allowing me to enter Low D underneath High D (part of the Four Notes) and also not allowing me to enter Low E underneath the Qtr Note B. Furthermore it is adding a unnecessary Rest as if the total value in the measure is missing a note as well as tying Eight Note B to the Qtr Note D in the following measure.
Thanks

On some operating systems you can see hidden backup files that end with a , These cannot be downloaded and do not have all of the last updates in them.

To start with, you are doing extra work. There is no need to have a duplet for the 2 eighth notes in the first full measure or the quadruplets for 4 eighth notes in the next measure. Just change the duration and MuseScore will make the notes properly. The procedure you are following is for another program. It works but is totally unnecessary.

I don't know how you got the notes into voice 2. By default, the half rest that is missing from the second (full) measure will be shown in voice 2.

If I were to enter the notes into voice 2, starting at the first full measure, I would turn on note input then enter the notes. Here is the key sequence I would use.

N (to turn on note input)
6 a (probably ctrl+down arrow to move the note to the correct octave) a d

At this point the notes are where you want them and there is a half rest at the end of the measure.

You may want to watch some tutorials here, especially video 3 to help understand note input. You can also read https://musescore.org/en/handbook/note-input and https://musescore.org/en/handbook/voices if you prefer.

Mike,
Thanks...I have watched the Note Input videos and will watch the rest of them as well. I have re-entered the score as suggested. I have 1 more question on the PickUp Measure (#1) and the very last Measure of Tutu Maramba: How can I get rid off Eight-Note Rest in each measures? I have deleted them but it is still showing as Grayed Out.
I also have a general question: How can I delete the Scores that I entered into MuseScore from Start View?
I have tried to delete the .mcsz files but that does not remove them from the view and I unfortunately could not find another way to delete them off of Start View.
Thank you very much again.

Are you sure you deleted the .mscz files themselves, and not perhaps the backup files (name starting with period, ending with comma)? If so, then they will disappear when you restart MuseScore. Or you could do File / Open Recent / Clear Recent Files.

As for the pickup, it looks like you have set its duration to 1/4, you should have chosen 1/8. It's not too late, just right click the measure and make that change to "Actual duration" in Measure Properties. Similarly, make the actual duration 7/8 for the final measure.
