Saving element styles
Is there any way to save element styles to style file? For example, I'm currently manually setting the barline colors to what I want, for each element, because I couldn't find a way to set such a style and then save it to a style file. Is it at all possible? If not, is there the possibility of such a feature or is that impossible by design?

Be a bit more precise on what you are trying to color. Somethings you can, some things you can't.

i'm asking if I can have a style file (.mss file) where barlines are by default any color other than black.

There is no style setting for barline colors, so the answer is no.
If you didn't know, you can right click a barline, then choose Select>All similar elements (or All similar elements in same staff) to select several barlines and change all of their colors at once using the inspector.
