Portuguese in the handbook

• Jan 18, 2019 - 19:13

I sent a message to the person who accidentally translated the main page of the handbook so hopefully they won't make that mistake again.

Can someone revert it to English?

Oops, i translated the main page to spanish, i just tried to translate the other pages and realized they are not available for translation, how do i go back to the english version?
Why is the main page available for translation btw? I saw the translate option was available and thought it was ok.

@Federico, you didn't do anything wrong. Leônidas used the edit option rather than the translate option. This turned the entire English page into Portuguese. Not too many people want that in the big picture. 😁

I think they want the users to have a starting place in their everyone's own language. Maybe it's a good idea, maybe not, but that's what they do when a new version comes out. I don't think it will be too long before the open the rest of the manual for translation. They should put a message in the translation forum when it's time to translate the manual.

There's also discussion about using the Telegram program, where the programmers chat, as a meeting place so Riaan van Niekerk can give guidance when translation starts. If there are multiple people working on a translation it would be good for them to communicate there so two people wont work on the same page at once.

If anyone gets bored waiting, besides Federico, they could work on the program. Most Languages still need a lot of translation.

If you mean you used Translate while the Main version was translated to Portuguese and changed nothing, saved it and the translation stayed in the Portuguese, you found a feature that you use if you ever make that mistake again. Edit it, translate it to another language. Ooops. Open the original that's now translated, select Translate, save it so you can keep your work. Then fess up on the translate forum and ask an Admin to revert it back to English for you. I found Thomas online with the programmers and asked him to revert it and he did. He mentioned that you had saved your translation, which was good. He was probably going to put it into Portuguese-Brazil for you before he reverted it. It's not the first time and won't be the last time he's had to do this.
