chord naming using control K

• Jul 10, 2019 - 13:35

This happens when ever I create a score with two guitars. I name the guitar parts Guitar 1 and Guitar 2. I make sure the names are consistent in the staff properties.

The two guitars and the keyboard is made up similar to a lead sheet. sometimes they have notation specific to their part, sometimes they don't. this could be chords, notes or both.

When I try to put chord names in the keyboard part the cursor always jumps down to the Guitar 1 staff to the first chord or note and is no longer on the keyboard part. If I type the chord name it appears on the Guitar 1 staff.

Am I doing something wrong or missing something?

this happens to me every time and forces me to write the keyboard part chords in by hand or give the keyboardist a copy of the guitar lead sheet.

This seems to be a bug related to the chord symbols being attached to fretboard diagrams. If there is a fretboard diagram on the beat where you want to put a chord, the fretboard is selected. This should be reported at https://musescore.org/en/node/add/project_issue?pid=1236.

The work around is to enter the chord symbol before the fretboard diagram. In my tests, I cut the fretboard diagram, entered a chord then pasted the fretboard diagram back. It seems to work, but the testing was limited.
