Suppressing breaks in multimeasure rests at instrument changes
Is it possible to avoid a break in a multimeasure rest at an instrument change? It is very common and desirable to specify a change of instrument during an extended section where the player is resting. MS breaks multimeasure rests at this point so that there is always a barline after the change.
I have cludged an example (1) to show what I would like to see if I attach an instrument change to the rest in bar 3. Example 2 shows what I actually get when I do that. Multimeasure rest break at instrument change.mscz
Note that example 1 doesn't represent a work around as what looks like an instrument change is actually just a plain stave text attached to the last note in bar 2 with its offset adjusted to bring it over the multibar rest. The instrument is Bb clarinet throughout example 1.

I guess it could/should get avoided (via a code change) if the instrument change is at the 1st measure of a multimeasure rest, but not if it is in the middle of it? Similar to how a tempo text works.

That seems a good way to go. There is no reason that I can see why one would want to put an instrument change within a multimeasure rest other than in its 1st measure.

or if (s)he does, why not break a multimeasure rest then ;-)
