Simply open the MIDI file with MuseScore in the normal way.

Can you please help me? Like, where do I open a midi file in musescore? Please, rousseau hasn't released the sheet music of piano man and i really want to play it.

File / Open, same way you'd open any other file.

It takes a lot longer, but if you have Synthesia and basic music theory knowledge and ear training skills, you can use Synthesia and MuseScore to transcribe this song using the MIDI file. It's something I do all the time, and is great practice for that sort of thing.

That is, if the MIDI file showcases the notes in Synthesia adequately. If it doesn't, you'll need to get a better quality MIDI file of the song.

Either that, or you can use the video, which features the "Falling Notes" visual feature, a metronome, knowledge of basic music theory (at least), and Muse Score to transcribe the song. This is also something I do very frequently. However, like with the Synthesia trick, this process is usually time-consuming. On the flipside, you learn some valuable ear training and music transcribing skills, which are almost always useful.

I can open them, but most will not play back. Why is this? Maybe I don't have the proper sound font?

If they are standard MIDI files, and you have installed MuseScore correctly, an imported MIDI file shoudl paly back as well as any other score. Do other scores (not imported from MIDI) play back? If so, then please psot the specific MIDI file you are having problems with and someone should be able to figure out what is going wrong with it.

That file can be opened and does playback using MuseScore 2.2.1
