Staccato not affected by minimum distance?
The other ones behave fine, but apparently staccato doesn't enjoy being tossed around. I also tried adjusting values in Style > Articulations, Ornaments
, but that didn't do anything either.

Staccato and tenuto are treated specially, they are always placed as close as possible to the note, inside slurs etc.

Oh okay, that makes more sense. Thank you.
It gave me a bit of a headache with this part as well.
Are there any tweakable parameters that dictates the behaviour of those, or is it just a fixed rule? Disabling auto placement and moving it around did do the job, but there are far too many staccatos to do that.

Why would you want to? The whole point is to obey standard rules of notation by default, and that means these marking go to.the next clear staff space. Only in pretty unusual situations would it be appropriate for these symbols to not be close to the notehead.
BTW, no need to disable autoplace when moving articulations or most other symbols. In fact it's usually counterproductive to do so - it prevents MhseScore from being able to avoid collisions or to maintain the relative positions of things as layout changes.
