Bug: Time signature change crashes MuseScore 3

• Jan 19, 2019 - 22:46

I'm trying to create a chart for "Song for Bilbao" (Pat Metheny)

The chart is 20 bars long: AABA, mostly in 4/4
= 8 bars repeated x2, middle section of 4 bars in 3/4, then the 1st 8 bars again.

I create the Jazz Lead Sheet with 20 bars, add an instrument of bass guitar.

I write the 1st 8 bars, add the repeat lines, all good.

I go to the menu for time signature and pull over the 3/4 into the next bar. Program crashes.

I've run through this sequence twice now; totally repeatable.

How can I help get this fixed?

Bug report added at https://musescore.org/en/node/282275.

It's completely reproducible if you do exactly the sequence I describe there (which is simpler than the one above).

AFAICS the bug happens when you add the time signature change in the instrument part. But it's fine if you make that change in the main score.

I am experiencing a crash with MuseScore 3 when trying in any way to alter a time signature. This is on macOS Sierra (10.12), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.2.3.22971, revision: d2d863f

I have appended a comment to the bug report page above ( https://musescore.org/en/node/282275 ) with the relevant file attached. I don't know if that's proper or sufficient to get this looked at again?

There is a problem in your score measures 29 and 30 with the slur on two staves - image below.
No sure right now what is happening (do you remember the "history" of this slur?)

I cannot reproduce from scratch, and even after removing and re-adding this slur at the same place (and by changing the time signature at the start of the score, say 3/4 instead 5/4)

Your score "repaired" (so exactly the same, but with a "new"/refreshed slur in measures 29/30): 1Meditation_With_Nature_Sounds.mscz

If it happens again and if possible by providing precise steps to can reproduce, please open a new issue.

Thanks. I opened the file that you fixed, and it now behaves normally. So I don't know what the issue was aside from possible corruption.

Also, can you tell me what repair method you used? I typically rely on the PDF handbook & there is nothing in the handbook for 3.0 for "fix" or "repair" or "corruption" related to file problems. If I search online I find "How to fix a score that contains corruptions" at https://musescore.org/en/node/54721 and also "How to repair a MuseScore file with a 'bad format' error" at https://musescore.org/en/node/276312 - however both these procedures assume that a warning dialog has appeared, and I did not get a warning dialog.

I have the same issue, its not the music itself, it will crash after typing the command SHIFT+T to change the time signature, it does this with or without music written in, on any measure. I use windows 10 but it also does the same thing on my school computer (macbook pro).

In order to assist, we would need you to attach the score in question, and even though you say it happens with any measure, it would still be useful to tell us one specifically, because it might turn out not to be literally every measure.

It's also possible your time signature palette has become corrupted, and would need to be repaired via something like Help / Revert to Factory Settings.
