That doesn't select the note that goes with it though. If for example the score consists of a note with staccato, a note without, then a note with, there is no way to say only select the notes with staccato and their staccato marks or even just select the notes that have a staccato. All you can do is select all of the notes or all of the staccatos.

Now if all of the notes with staccato are 8th notes for example and all non-8th notes do not have staccato you could use select>more... and choose only the 8th notes.

One word of clarification, you cannot automate the process. You do have the freedom to use ctrl+click to select any random objects, but if you select a note and a staccato, there isn't much you can do but make them invisible or a different color.

Perhaps an explanation of your purpose could get you a better answer.

Surely I misunderstand. You want 2 tracks 1 with and 1 without staccato.........
Copy and paste your track, you get 2, and in the first, delete all staccatos in one clic..........

I think you misunderstand. The OP wants to select only notes that have a staccato on them. There is no shortcut to do this besides to ctrl+click each of the notes. He also wants to add the staccatos to this selection. You can select only staccatos, but adding the notes they are attached to is not automated. He didn't really explain why he wanted to do this. I asked to explain why he wants to do this and perhaps there is another way to accomplish what he wants.

No matter but, I read again the post, and I don't see where He wants to add staccatos to a selection, MS can't remember where are the notes where there was a staccato, sure, it's OK.
He only wants, in starting with a track with notes with staccato, to "separe" the notes and their staccato, to get 2 tracks to export in MIDI and have the 2 sounds.
I don't see where he asks for that MS remembers the place where were the staccatos , after.

The original post is quite clear though.
He has a score where some notes have a staccato and other ones don't.
He wants a track with all notes which don't have a staccato, and another track with all the (other!) notes that have a staccato (keeping their staccato).
What was looked after in the discussion is a way to select all the notes that have a staccato, and unfortunately there is none (except obviously manually ctrl-clicking them one by one...).
That is clearly a missing feature.
And as I said that would be easily solved if:
1) there was a shortcut to go from an element attached to a note to the note (so you can go from staccato to the note)
2) and crucial point: that shortcut must work with several selected elements, "going" to all corresponding notes at once

One doesn't "separate the regular note from them" (the staccato); but rather one separates (and deletes) the staccato from the note.

So, leaving the score as is (with staccato)...
1. Export the midi with staccato.
THEN...
2. Select all staccatos and delete them. This will export a midi without staccato.

(These steps, in this order, will produce the OP's a separate track regular notes and a track of staccato.)

Finally, if desired, undo the delete to automatically place the staccatos back to whatever notes they were originally attached.
