Diagonal Line

• Nov 9, 2019 - 22:32

I'm using Line from the Lines palette to point from one note on the bass clef to another note on the treble clef. Also I have to deselect auto placement to get the line to point from one note to the other. The issue I'm having is when there is an edit to the measure, staff etc. I would have to readjust the line placement again. I was wondering if there is a way to anchor the line from on note to the other so that whatever adjustment is the line will always point to note it's suppose to point to?

The better way to do this is to use Add / Lines / Note Anchored Lines. Then you don't need workarounds - it automatically connects two notes and updates correctly as the layout changes.

Whoa, didn't know about this. I thought it was equivalent to selecting two note heads and placing a line, but it isn't! Add->Lines->N.A.L. also uses diagonality and extends the line a bit more into touching the note heads, and follows pitch/layout changes. Thanks for the tip. P.S., shouldn't this be in the palettes too though? It almost feels like a 'hidden' feature what with the focus on the palette.

Nice idea! Right now, the rest of the lines on the palette are real lines actually drawn on a score (the "gscore"). The ambitus is, I suspect, an icon that is simply displayed as is, And that is indeed one possible approach to use here, could be literally just the ambitus icon rotated. Beats developing a new icon.
