Mixer and synthesizer in my View menu is greyed out, and playback wont work on MS3

• Dec 30, 2019 - 00:45

I use macbook pro (mid 2014), runs on Catalina, I checked that I installed all the SoundFont, tried all of the https://musescore.org/en/node/96811, none of them works: gave my MS3 all the disk permission, reverted to the factory setting, reinstalled MS3 and soundfonts, Restarted the Audio and MIDI Devices, reset the PRAM/NVRAM like the link suggested, my computer does not have touch bar, i really don't know what else i can do here to make it works. So help plz!

It's also possible that you need to update your Mac audio drivers. The upgrade to Catalina may or may not have done this for your configuration.
Firstaid is a built in utility that helps restore permissions. Hard to say if it will help at all in your case. In Finder, go to Applications. Firstaid should be listed as a utility.
Just like most any OS update, Catalina has posed some problems.

So Johnny, Which is it. At one point you say sound worked a few days ago, then you say it never worked, if I'm reading correctly. If it worked a few days ago, then something changed in your computer. This is normally a driver issue. If it never worked, that's some kind of compatibility issue. Catalina. Since export works, this makes me lean towards a driver issue. You could delete MuseScore. but if you do, don't just run an uninstall. That just deletes the User Interface. You have to search your computer for everything with musescore in the title and delete all those things.

I'm very sorry if i wasn't made myself clear. I clearly remember it was working fine about two weeks ago since I had a piece to finish that time, and I finished it with MS3. and then this christmas I opened musescore to check some scores and it was not working, and it hasn't been working since then. One detail is that I updated to Catalina during that period from Mojave, but I couldn't remember the Macos version when it was working so maybe my update to Catalina screwed something up. But again, all of my DAWs and players are working fine just except MuseScore (both 2.3.2 and 3.3.4). And it was quite frustrating since this is the only notation software I use now, and a lot of things I wrote cannot be reviewed anymore. I will try to delete everything that related to musescore and redownload and see what happened. Thanks for the replies!

I just tried that, it doesn't work :( I deleted everything that I have access to on this computer that relate to musescore, I searched all of my hard drive on this laptop and made sure that there is not a single file that at least has the name "musescore" on it, and then I shut down my laptop, then reboot, then downloaded MS3.3.4, and all the issues are still there.
