Vertical spacers are hard to select upon spanned barlines
Specifically this repeat bar line:
The mouse seems to not be able to select it here.
This problem won't occur when a spacer is placed at the beginning of a system because the spanner (correction: spacer) will be placed to the left-most bar line, separated from something like a repeat bar-line after a time-signature. In the middle of a system as shown in the image, however, spacers become practically impossible to select. Even the little 'wing' of the right side sticking out can't be selected on my system, I think because the dots of the repeat bar line are extended further than the spacer.
Somehow, spacers have got to be given some selectability as a layer in this instance, and probably with other instances.

You mean spacer, not spanner, don't you?

Precisely. Edited post to reflect correct nomenclature.
The barline is indeed on top of the spacer, but for me a simple Ctrl-click doesn't solve. It nicely toggled to the layer below to select the spacer.

And what of regular selection via left-click, even though the arrow head of the spacer does 'appear' to be clickable?
FWIW, this [Ctrl-click] #284493: Let Ctrl+click cycle through selection of overlapping elements from earlier 2019 didn't get much publicity from my point of view, but it is in the handbook. Must've missed it.

I suspect hidden by the width of the repeat barline (including the dots).

Yeah, if it weren't for the [Ctrl+Click] overlapped-cycling ability, this would need to be improved upon in a more direct manner, so I won't file a bug report -- although it wouldn't hurt to have a special case of positioning of spacers depending upon the type of barline or something so that [ctrl+clicking] wasn't required.

Found an instance where Ctrl+Click doesn't work for overlapped elements:
Feather beam for instance that is "grown" (left/right) and have a line that is below the "growth" height of the beam. The line doesn't seem clickable at all whatsoever, even with [Ctrl+Click] and requires for me to lower the growth first to access the line. Gotta feeling if an issue isn't filed, this will get "overlooked" by everyone.
Update: Hm... and now the situation to which I refer seems to work. Will post here with a link to a new topic if I can re-create an exact instance of not being able to [ctrl+click] with the above mentioned scenario, and then post the .mscz.
