The Barbershop Harmony template that comes with MuseScore is for MEN'S barbershop. Women sing barbershop, too, and the clefs are different for women's barbershop music. Women's barbershop uses regular treble clef and OCTAVE UP BASS CLEF. Please, PLEASE either add the "octave up" bass clef as a clef choice or create a new template for women's barbershop with the correct clefs and transpositions. Thank you!

What would the voices be names, same as for male or Soprano/Lead and Mezzosoprano/Alto?

Yes, that's perfect. BTW, I'm a new user and I've just found the clef palette, so I now know it is possible to simply take the men's template and reverse the clefs :) :) (hopefully this changes the transpositions, too?). But it's so much better to have a pre-existing women's template that looks correct and also plays correctly without the user having to tweak it.
Part names are the same as for men's barbershop -- tenor and lead on treble clef staff; baritone and bass on bass clef staff. What you have is correct.
Thanks so much for responding so quickly!

OK, take this then (I've extended the BARI/BASS to go a bit higher, into the upper mezzo range)

would the Soprano/Lead need to go down as far as the bottom limits for mezzo soprano?
If you want it to become part of the next version, please raise an issue, as "5 - Suggestion"

Ranges for Lead and Baritone are pretty similar -- both go from about Ab below middle C to C above middle C. The difference is, Lead is a melody part and Baritone is a harmony part, sometimes singing above the lead and sometimes below. I'll definitely send a suggestion using your "issue" link. Again, thanks for your help.

And the ranges for tenor and bass?
Any differences in ranges between amateur and professional?

Typical female tenor would be F above middle C to G an octave and 1 above.
Typical female bass would be Eb above middle C and down an octave from there.
Yes, singers at the highest levels can extend all of those ranges, sometimes quite a lot. What I've given you is the more typical range that you'd find in most barbershop choruses and quartets.

OK, I'll go with the attached then, see also https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/5770.
