Project
1) Have a C-Major score
2) Enter a note, for example F4, add accident, make it F#
3) Within the same measure, enter the next note F5, without any accident. It should be a F# because it is in the same measure.
4) Play the measure. The higher note will be played as F, but it should be F#

This is not a problem. This is the law of music. When you have an F4 with a sharp, F5 should be natural.
so not really fixed, but by design

I know what you mean but for clarity I would not write "should be natural" but rather:
Accidentals at one octave don't affect other octaves.
If the same note in another octave also need an accidental you must explicitly add it, be it on paper with a pencil or in MuseScore

Thank you all for clarification. I have learned something new today :) funnily, after so many years of playing music and reading music. Probably what has changed is that just recently I started to also write music.
