Orchestral Cello parts connected by bracket.

• Apr 16, 2020 - 18:47

I recently scored some pieces for Voice and Piano for full orchestra. It was my first attempt at it, and I think I did pretty well with Musescore!
However, I never could work out how to score the divided cello parts as the conductor requested: He wanted the two cello staves connected with a bracket. I attempted this a number of times, creating a Violoncello 1 and 2 parts separately, but could never get them together with brackets so that they could both be printed on the same page for the players. I'm sure there is a way, but I have failed to find it or create it intuitively still. Can you tell me if this can be done, and if so, how?

Jojo,

I'm sorry, but you will have to show me how it is done with very specific instructions, as I have tried this a dozen times, and I still am not getting the product I need. I have created the bracketed cello parts now, but please tell me how they are named (as selected) and appear as ONE part that can be printed as such with both parts on the player's copy. (Currently, I have them named individually as Violoncello 1 and Violoncello 2, and they definitely only print separately that way.)

Right. So what DO I want? Snowy_Night.mscz I was disappointed. But how can I join these parts so that both Cello 1 and Cello 2 appear on the same printed page? This is evidently quite typical in the string world. I have tried NUMEROUS times using "Parts" to create a Violoncello part that contains both Cello 1 and Cello 2. Even though the instructions sound simple, I have not been able to get a result. I'm on the latest version. HELP!!!
