Can no longer hear sound when inserting note into score

Hello, after updating Musescore every time I insert a note (or anything) into the canvas I can no longer hear the note play. I went to preferences and "Play notes while editing" was already checked off. I hear the score just fine when I play it and can even hear the note change tones when I move an already placed one on the screen up and down.
