Page Missing, no back up save
So I have worked on a piece for 4-5 sessions, and I opened the score today to find my latest addition missing. I looked at the file and it says it hasn't been updated since 6/27, which was the first day I started. I checked my appdata and the only file related to this piece is from yesterday, 7/4, and is missing a little over a page of music. The only other file pertaining to this piece is from 6/27, and the only difference between the two is that a single pitch was changed. I have definitely saved many times since 6/27, and can guarantee that I saved before closing the program yesterday as I have done many times before.
I have followed the instructions for viewing and recovering backups from https://musescore.org/en/node/52116, and have scanned my computer for the song file to see if I just saved it in a different location.
Is the music as I had notated it gone forever or am I missing something?

Is it possible that you accidentally saved two copies in two different folders, and the one you worked on most recently is somewhere else?

Even if you did not have to recover files after a crash, it is vaguely possible that your file got saved in the wrong directory. Use your OS 'search' tool to find all files you modified on the date in question. One of them will probably be your missing MuseScore file.

Found it! Thanks for the idea of using "Datemodified:", I wouldn't have thought to do that. Turns out the file was indeed in the Musescore Bin, however to get there I had to go into the VirtualStore's folder of Program files x86...
File destination on Windows 10:
C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\MuseScore 2\bin

I believe this is good news, as I have noticed an uptick in the frequency of forum posts regarding missing files.
Apparently, the VirtualStore folder is part of Windows UAC (User Account Control).

For me, I was unaware that the VirtualStore folder would contain redirected MuseScore saved files. In fact, I just now checked my own Windows 10 and found three copies of a single file:
1) A comma delineated backup - .MyScore.mscz,
2) A normally named file - MyScore.mscz
3) A full path name file - _Users_User_Desktop_MS Forum Scores_Forum Posts_MyScore.mscz
I don't know how they got there, but I remember downloading that particular score from the MuseScore forum as it was a file that had some corruption. Probably even crashed.
Anyhow...
Whatever triggers a redirected save to VirtualStore (e.g. prohibited file write path, invalid permissions), the result is that people may fear their work is gone because the file they think they have backed up is in fact empty, and their data is stuck some where in VirtualStore limbo. I recall forum posts where frustrated MuseScorers were asked if they were sure that they were working on and backing up their intended file. Perhaps it was actually a duplicate located in the VirtualStore folder.
I checked my Vista machine and it also has a VirtualStore folder at:
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files
However, no MuseScore files are present in it.
