Help changing to transposing instrument

• Aug 10, 2016 - 23:12

Alright, so change instrument doesn't do transpositions. So I have two staves, one Oboe, one English Horn. How do I make it look like one stave? Hide resting doesn't help, half the song is invisible then, unless I put cue notes absolutely everywhere. Are there any other ideas? How do I deal with the actual staff-switching point to make it look like one staff?

I feel like the Wizard of Oz.

Assuming you're not prepared to put this off until MuseScore 3, you're on the right track. Instead of putting in cue notes everywhere to keep other staves from being hidden, use the "Never hide" checkbox in each of their Staff Properties.

I think there's some kind of miscommunication. I'm not worried about other staves. I'm trying to get these two staves in this one part to look like one staff, so the oboe player doesn't give me a really funny look when I hand it to him. (it's Oboe & English Horn).

The problem with hide resting isn't that I have other staves I want to see, it's that there are 50 measure blocks of rests that one of the staves needs to show.

Personally, I find it easiest to have two staves in which I get one to *look* right (but not sound right), another to *sound* right (but not look right), and then mute the first and hide the second.

As mentioned, this will be fixed for 3.0. I'd love to include the fix in an earlier releas,e but there are compatibility issues that are not easy to solve.
