Piobaireachd Movements

• Aug 26, 2016 - 17:18

Piobaireachd is an old form of bagpipe music that has it's own set of embellishments. I'm currently typing in a piobaireachd and I am not finding some of the embellishments needed in the bagpipe palette.
Right now I need a cadence to E and a cadence to C and a rodin.

Cadence to E:

Is there a way to create embellishments on my own or do you(developers) have to add them to the bagpipe palette?
Thanks

Has anything been done about this?? Editing palette xml file? Adding an additional palette? Is there any way to add embellishments or edit the ones in the palette? I find it disturbing that no one has answered this post in almost 10 years!! Any help or pointers to info to achieve the above at all??

I see...that does make sense...
Currently, I am able to insert a "close enough" embellishment from the palette and edit it.
What I would like is if I could create a custom palette and save the edited "element" to that.
What would be ideal is if notes could be added or taken out... for example the crunluath movement or a-mach which have many more gracenotes. So how otherwise could there be a palette created that would provide a variety of piobaireachd movements similar to the Bagpipe embellishment palette and that hopefully others could use too?

I tried to create those embellishments and was successful - just put a similar two-note embellishment on the score and modify it in terms of note duration and pitch. What i couldn't do, though, was to copy it to a custom palette. Same with grace notes (bagpipe embellishments are just complex grace notes). I couldn't even copy and paste the grace notes from one part of the score to another without the note that they preceded being selected.

Unless I've missed a better way, or until a better solution comes along, I suggest creating shortcuts for 8th, 16th, 32nd grace notes that you can quickly call up. You will still need to adjust the pitches but at least the durations will be quick to select.

I had the same experience, but at least you understand what I am trying to do. I was hoping to avoid having to edit each embellishment every time and just edit it once and add it to a custom palette to use later or in other scores. I was able to create a custom palette of Common Embellishments copied from the main bagpipe palette, but despite the presence of an "Enable Editing" setting, editing within the palette seems to be quite limited...
