Solo part that comes and then goes

Hey folks, completely green here. I'm re-transcribing some music for a local SATB amateur chorus. There is a short solo in the middle of the piece, and I'm trying to figure out how to put it in there without having a staff-line for it throughout the rest of the piece, only to be filled with rests. Can anyone give me a pointer on how to add a part only for a handful of measures and then have it disappear again?

Hope this isn't too inane a question, on the other hand let me know if I should elaborate. Thank you!
