Remove Breaks & Spacer from 'Layout'?
I think it's not different to anything else in the palette, and for balance, perhaps it shouldn't be in the 'Layout' as well.
What does anyone else think?

On first sight it seems a useless duplication.
Currently though you cannot undock the palette version and move it on the screen,
So until we have movable palettes i feel it should stay

Looking at the current trunk shows that the palette has one entry (Staff spacer down) more than the layout menu.

Hmm, 1.1 has all three in both menus.

trunk has two more than 1.1, but one of them (section break) only in the palette
But yes, it is not needed in the layout menu IMHO
But then there's more duplication, there's a palette for clefs key and time signatures, bar lines etc., but also a menu for these (under "Create")

I now perhaps think it shouldn't be removed.
Its a useless duplication and removed in trunk in r5244.
BTW the palette sidebar can be undocked.

Yes the sidebar can, but individual palettes cannot.
It would be nice to see that facility in a future version.

One of the new features you should try is "Profiles".
Every change to the palette sidebar is recorded in the current profile. It allows for several custumized palette sets. If you are for example writing scores for piano you can remove all not needed symbols or palettes. Less & smaller palettes are usually easier and faster to use.
One (not implemented) idea is to add another palette sidebar. This would allow to place palettes on the left and right of the score (or floating).

For balance, I was hesitant for it to be removed, because of other duplications existing in the palette - they could be removed though:
Bar lines
Clefs
Key Signatures
Time Signatures
Lines
Brackets
Articulations & Ornaments
Accidentals
Symbols
Accidentals in the palette offers far more than what's in the toolbar - the latter features the more common ones though.
These have now been removed.
I wonder about 'Concert Pitch', which is on the toolbar and in 'Notes'. It's more of a mode, though.

Defiitely should stay on toolbar, sine it is necessary info to understand what you are seeing. Although I suppose simply seeing a staus bar indication might be good enough.
