Tabulature for lap steel guitar tunings.
I am looking for a way to create tabulature for lap steel guitar. I see that this has been requested for sometime. I understand lap steel guitar provides some unique challenges with a plethora of tunings, but as I need it now, combined with a piano line, I am hoping that there are some ideas on this issue. In my case, I would like to create a tab for a Jerry Byrd A Major tuning (AC#EAC#E).

So just take a standard (steel) guitar and TAB and tweak the string data for the correct Tuning.

Thanks for the quick reply. Now two new issues popped up. The first is that all of the tab notation insists on sitting on the 1st. string only. The second is the high F that appears as a "?" mark, despite my having set the guitar to 26 frets. How do I solve these?

Upload a copy of this score so we can see what's going on. I already have a few guesses, but I'll need to see more.

Looks like a bug. I increased the fret positions to 30 just to see if MS was counting like a computer (counting 0 as the first of 26), but there seems to be a limitation built in that it won't calculate a fret position above 24. You should file a but report.

And regarding the other issue with the transposition to tabulature, where all notes are shown on one string? Is that related to the same bug?

I think you're simply off by an octave, guitar is usually notated with a G8vb clef, one octave lower than a regular G clef.

Hmm. There is still something wrong with it, even after having corrected your file to an A Major tuning. Not sure what is going on...

Thanks, but it is still way off. There are no notes on the two lowest strings, among other things.

In regards to no notes on the lowest 2 strings, that's because the lowest note on the sample belongs on the E3 string. You can enter notes below E or select a fret number from the TAB and press ctrl-down arrow to move it to a lower string and the numbers and strings will change appropriately. jojo still hasn't addressed the fret stopping at 24. When you select a higher fret number. If you select the 2nd note in measure 6 (the E) and make it go up an octave the fret number becomes 24, when you increase it 1/2 step it becomes a question mark, another 1/2 step another ? another 1/2 step and correctly an error (a red zero).
This is a bug.

Yes, you are correct. I got so wrapped up in the issues, I forgot to add the notes for the last two strings. My mistake. Many thanks for the help.
