Unable to set Lyric font styles

• Dec 17, 2016 - 04:23

My score has hundreds of lyric text elements which have inconsistent sizes. None of the tools have any affect on the sizes except for the font size sector at the bottom of the screen when an individual element is being edited. Correcting the font size one at a time would be a very laborious chore, but the score is not publishable as is.

The Edit Text Styles dialog's Lyric Odd and Lyric Even Lines settings do not change the font sizes at all. Is this a known bug? I'm really in a jam with this problem. The only feature of the Edit Text Styles that has an impact on the font size is "Size Follows Staff Space setting", which unfortunately results in uneven font sizes. Turning that off reverts to 12 point text.

Also, it is not possible to select just the lyrics using the Selection Filter. When only the Lyrics filter is checked, nothing is selected. If at least one Part is checked then all lyrics will be selected (for all parts) when performing a Select All. However, since multiple object types are selected the Font tools in the Inspector are not available.

In short, my lyric fonts are an unusable mess and I have found no way to correct the issue in MuseScore 2.0.3.1 on Macintosh. Any help would be much appreciated.

I assume this score was imported from another source? Scores created within MuseScore 2 would not normally have this issue. All lyrics would be the same size, the size given by the style option. And if you change the style option, all lyrics should update normally. But indeed, lyrics imported from another source won't be able to take advantage of this MuseScore 2 feature unless you first reset them to use the style settings, as described above.
