yes, simply right-click the meter and select "set invisible." It will still show up as gray, unless you go to "Display" and uncheck "Show Invisible" but it will not print.

Invisible meters still take up room on the page, which might or might not be OK. If your goal is to have music that is really meterless, and barlines drawn just to show phrasing, you might be better off not using regular time signatures at all to indicate these changes, but instead use the "actual time signature" property of the measure (right click the measure), so no time signature appears at all.
