I've run into this problem while writing for piano, specifically with the tenor line. I had previously tried writing it in voice 3, with soprano in 1, alto in 2, and bass in 4, but the rests would show up still. I eventually figured out that the rests were programmed in as voice 1, and I started writing the tenor in that voice instead of voice 3, and the notes replaced the rests. I don't know if that helps, but I'd hope it would solve your problem.

Thi is what cut is supposed to do, different from copy.
You can't have an entirely empty measure, at least a whole measure rest will remain.If you don't want that, mark it invisible
That is true, to get rid of the whole rest you must make it invisible, then it will not print.

Why cut should mean delete? Is that easy to discover?
Cut does mean delete. But you can't delete silence...
Escape by replacing it with music.
