The normal mode for entering notes with the mouse is to add them. The replace mode is much less useful but still provided with "shift+click". This is intentional because i could not find a better assignment.
I am following your direction and all seems well until I try to add a dotted hal note with the mouse.
The note is replaced rather than a chord built.
Regards.

That does seem inconsistent since holding "shift" during keyboard input adds a note to the chord.
In case you weren't aware, if you don't hold "shift" then it allows you to add notes to a chord via the mouse.
Wasn't aware. Thanks..

XavierJazz: If you add a note of different duration it will replace the existing notes.
Werner: How about Ctrl+click to replace notes instead of Shift+click?
