Multiple Measure Rests Not working
I have followed the instructions for creating multiple measure rests; however nothing happens when I click apply. I have to be doing something wrong that completely escapes me. I have a score with a number of instruments with rests that span several measures at different places in the score. So, Multiple Measure Rests would certainly be nice - if I can get it to work.

Are you trying to use this option on the score itself? That wouldn't normally work, as unless *all* staves are empty for range of measures, you can't replace them with a multimeasure rest. These are virtually never seen in scores for that reason. But it should work fine in the generatd parts.
Have you tried to change it on the score itself or through the settings?
Go Style-> Edit General style-> Score and select 'Create multi measures rests'
It should do it automatically.
If it doesn't work upload the file.
