musescore crashes on xml import

• Mar 28, 2017 - 18:11

I tried to open a xml file from Sibelius in Musescore. Musescore crashed.
I then tried to open a xml file exported from Musescore in Musescore. Musescore crashed also !
I'm using Musescore 2.03.
I cannot attach the files since they are both more then 2 Mb.
Is there anything I can do to get the first file into Musescore ?

No crash with MuseScore 2.0.3 on OpenSuse Leap. Sometimes it's useful to revert to factory settings:

https://musescore.org/en/handbook/revert-factory-settings

below the saved MuseScore files.

note: If the crash remains, you can also try to start MuseScore from the console/terminal to see, if there is an output, what this crash occurs.

I use Musescore 2.03 in Linux Mint.
I still cannot open any xml-file in musescore (menu file- open).
However I just discovered I canopen any xml file by rightclicking on it and choosing 'open with musescore2' . So for all practical purposes the problem is solved.

Is it possible there are different versions of MsueScore involved, then? Like when you start normally it is 2.0.3, but when right clicking it actually opens an different version? Is it literally *any* XML file? How about if you export "My First Score" as XML? Can you attach a sample file that crashes for you?

I found the solution.
When I tried to open the xml files I used in Musescore it seemed that nothing at all happened.
(for instance: the text 'no file selected' remained). So I thought Musescore had crashed.
On your instigation I now made a simple xml file from "My first Score" It opened immediately.
I tried again to open one of the rather complicated xml files I worked with earlier, and waited for 3 minutes. Then Musescore had opened it and worked normally.
Thank you for your comments.
