How do I create a part without any sounds attached to it?

So I've been trying to compose/arrange some pieces using MuseScore, and as a percussionist, I find myself often wanting to use lots of auxiliary percussion that MuseScore often doesn’t support (rainstick, ratchet, etc.). I know exactly what I want to notate, but as MuseScore doesn’t have any implemented instrument for some of these auxiliary perc. instruments, I don’t really have a good way to do so. What I really want, is just a one line (or even five, I really don’t care) percussion clef staff that plays absolutely nothing in playback. I’ve been getting around this mostly by muting a snare drum part, which works fine for the most part, but when I go to export it, you hear the obnoxious snare loud and clear.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

What do you mean by :export"? Do you mean MIDI or audio, perhaps? Audio should honor the Mixer settings, include mute, but I'm not sure MIDI has such a concept in itself, so I could imagine that might not work as well; you might need to mute it again in whatever program you are using to play the MIDI file.
