A dynamic in the prima volta is also active in the seconda volta, when it should not be, causing subsequent measures (absent another dynamic) to be played incorrectly. This is significant in that it affects midi output generated.

Placing a dynamic in the seconda volta (e.g. pp in the example) causes it to be correct, so a workaround is easy.

As of 4/13/17 this was in master (3.0) as well as 2.1rc.

In such cases it is probably a good idea to put a "courtesy dynamic" marking into the second volta for human musicians, even if Musescore interprets the markings correctly.

I agree. I ran across this transcribing music (via OMR) and noticed it when a passage played way too loud. In the original I even questioned if the absence of one was correct (i.e. which way it should play) but seemed reassured it should ignore the dynamic in the first when playing the second. But I agree it is more clear for humans.
