instrument TAB name has changed

• May 3, 2017 - 00:17

Hi there
in my Big Band score, the Baritone 'Tab' has changed its name from "Baritone" to the name of the file (see my screenshot for clarification)
How do I get it back to show "Baritone"?

Open up FileParts… again. Select the relevant part on the left side, rename with the top-right edit field.

If the tab name matters I guess you'll have to delete it and extract it again. You can then move it back up where you want it. If you custom formatted it you'll have to do that again though.

Search for "</score>", in the line above you'll find the text from the Tabs, enclosed by "<name>" and "</name>" . Don't use Notepad, it doesn't deal properly with the linefeeds in these files, take Notepad++ (Freeware) for example, or maybe even WordPad.
Or attach your score here ;-)

brilliant so far. I used Wordpad as it was already on my 'putr. So having found and changed the name, what do I do next (sorry I really have no idea). The formats it'll allow me to save in don't really make much sense (as regards mscx) so I'm guessing I have to CTRL A and then paste it into musescore????
Apologies for taking up your time.

In WordPad (at least on Windows 7) when saving the file:
1.) Change the File Type dropdown selection to read "Text Files (.txt)"
2.) Then change the suggested filename manually to end in ".mscx"
You'll get a warning prompt about saving in a text-only format, agree to it.

The now saved .mscx can be directly opened by MuseScore.
