playback on musescore.com

• Mar 4, 2013 - 16:17

Hi Everyone, I was dismayed that the computer on Musescore.com does not "read" change of tempo numbers. When playingback on musescore.org. you can of course adjust things with the play panel, but not on musescore.com. Is the Musescore playback software supposed to rea internal tempo changes or not. Please see my message below to Thomas. thanks, Del

Hi THomas,

Thanks for your reply on this. I will post this on musescore.org Forums. I am familiar with the Forum discussions, but since the playback problem is on Musescore.com, I had thought that was the site to write to. Sincerely, Del H.

Hi, on My Opera, Anasazi, Selection from Act I. Intro and 11st Scene: Apparently the Musescore Playback Computer does not "read" Tempo changes within the score? (I'm not sure my home one does either, very well) But users will hear much of my selection played back much too fast ins spite of the proper tempo markings and metronome markings I provided in the score. Of course, those are often ambiguous, but I thought the compter would read the so -many- beats- per -minute numbers?? (even my own on musescore.org is not too good on this, it seems? BUt better than on Mussescore.com Please advise. I'm pretty sure my tempo beats per minute numbers are correct. Sincerely Delton Hudson

MuseScore.com does read tempo changes if they are entered correctly in the score. See Tempo .
Note that MuseScore, and then MuseScore.com doesn't interpret gradual tempo changes like ritardando, accelerando etc... and for each tempo text you can change the tempo with right click -> MIDI properties.

A good example to see all these features in action is Reunion, the demo score, by Marc Sabatella

OK, Thank You for the reply, Marc. I will have to figure out the Musescore way of entering tempos, fix and will have to reupload everything to musescore .com, apparently. This is important to get right as I am submitting to Opera Companies and steering them in the direction of seeing my samples on musescore.com Cordially, Del Hudson

In Measure 1 and 22 you have an Andante directly followed by a Maestosos, the latter followed by a note and the equivalent time, but the tempo text properties don't match that.
You need to enter the beats per minute there and be aware that beat here always means quarter note
Another time, later in the sore (measure 42, 68, 71) , you have a plain text, not a tempo text, that ain't gonna work at all
