Hidden notes?
Many times when I download scores, notes in e.g. trills are hidden so that they don't clutter the score. Can somebody tell me how I can show these notes for editing? Or is there a customizable "trill" function in Muse that I have missed?

Click it, press 'V' or use Inspector (F8) check Visible
If you mean you see them when you check show invisible under the view menu, then you can select the entire score, click the notes button in the inspector and check the visible box, you will then be able to see all of the notes. If you mean that you can't see all of the notes in the trill, but can hear them, this is part of the playback.

Please bear with a newbie here:) That would be the second scenario you describe. I can see the note (but not all notes in the trill) and therefore, "visible" is obviously checked in Inspector. But how then is the trill generated in the first place if I can't see the individual notes that it's made up of?
The reason I ask is that I would like to modify the trill for playback reasons, since it's not very well "executed" so to speak. An option is of course to delete it and make a new one, but I'm just curious how this works.

It's magic. Just kidding. There is an algorithm that plays the trill at a set rate (either 16th or 32nd notes I haven't checked.) When you slow the tempo down the trill rate slows down in an unrealistic fashion. If playback is your concern then I would suggest a second line for that instrument with the trill spelled out and "play" unchecked in the inspector for the note in the original staff. If you are going to share or print the score, make the extra staves invisible in the instruments dialog.

Doh. OK, the thing is I had a recollection of using the trill function a while ago, but nothing happened, so I now I thought in the back of my mind that it was just a visible feature, but now I see it's obviously an automatic playback thing.

In my instructions above I said to uncheck play for the note. There is also an option to play the trill which is on by default.
It seems that in previous 1.x versions trills did not play, but I could be wrong about that. I only used 1.x for a short time. I came back to MuseScore after a 2.0.x version came out.
