[Mac] "Delete" key on MacBook Pro doesn't delete selection

On the Mac, the "Delete" key should delete the current selection. Some application use CMD-Delete (as in, *really* delete) for some operations that need extra protection.

1. select a note
2. press the "Delete" key (I'm on a MacBook Pro)

Result: nothing
Expected: note goes away

Workaround: fn-Delete seems to delete the note, but this is a rarely used key combination

Suggestion:
- have the Delete key work like it does in Text Edit and other programs (i.e., remove the selection) [preferred]
- have CMD-Delete delete the selection [alternate]
