8th note bars

• Apr 17, 2013 - 14:10

Can someone please tell me how to break up bars in a measure? For instance, if you are in 4/4 time and you have 8 eighth notes in a measure, they share one bar - tied across the whole measure. I would like to break them up, say into 4 groups of 2 eighth notes.

Thanks!

Actually, the default in Musescore is not to combine all eighth notes under a single beam, but to break them up into 2 groups of 4, and this is the most common publishing standard, so I wouldn't be in a hurry to override it in this case. But there are plenty of other cases where an override is necessary. So you might want to define keyboard shortcuts (edit / preferences / shortcuts) for the commands described in the Handbook article mentioned abive, to make it easy to break and join commands in a single keystroke directly while entering notes.
