Note that this is in the "export" menu rather than "save" because indeed it is *not* the same as saving. Saving implies you will get back when you put in if you then load that file again. That isn't the case with exported formats. You can export to MIDI, for example, but loading that MIDI in will *not* give you anything close to what you started with, simply because MIDI wasn't designed to handle everything that goes into a written score - just what is needed for playback. Similarly for the other formats you can export to (eg, MP3, PNG, PDF, etc).
