Stave spacing adjustment changing measure size
I created a score and adjusted it so that the first and second parts of the music took up 2 lines each (32 bar tune).
Then I adjusted the spacing between staves to compress the whole lot and ended up with the measures changing size so that the parts took up less than 2 lines each. I was able to re-adjust the second part but not the first, it was either too long or too short but not just right. (Goldilocks syndrome)
What am I doing wrong please?

Hard to tell without seeing the score. You can (and should) add system breaks to force breaks at certain suitable measures

@Jojo, I believe you meant line breaks rather than system breaks (in American English).

Line breaks in text, system breaks in music (but indeed called "Line break" in the palette), so yes this is the same thing.

@Jojo, My point is that there is no palette or menu item called a System break in English. I realize a line break and system break in music are one in the same. Not knowing the knowledge that the OP has, I think it better to call it what MuseScore calls it.
